Volunteer Opportunities
The Consorcio Toisan offers many opportunities for individuals to work as volunteers with one of our many member organizations and producer groups. Volunteering with the Consorcio is a wonderful opportunity for you to be part of our process of constructing a more just and equitable society. What’s more, you have the opportunity to live in one of the most beautiful, green and productive places in Ecuador while enjoying the hospitality of our community members.
Who can become a Volunteer? Volunteers can be either students or professionals (International or Ecuadorian) who are between the ages of 18 and 35 years old with a basic working knowledge of Spanish and, most importantly, a spirit of solidarity and a great deal of positive energy. Those who are interested in volunteering but do not yet speak Spanish may apply to the Community Spanish School located in the community of Pucara, very close to the Consorcio Toisan.
In what areas is it possible to volunteer? There are a number of different volunteer opportunities, including:
- Tourism
 - Organic Agriculture
- Organizational Capacity Building
- Community Micro-Enterprise Management
- Commercialization (Fair Trade)
- Environmental Management
- Supporting the Community Telecentro through courses in English, Computers, etc
How much does it cost? The cost to work as a volunteer is either $10,oo per day or $300,oo per month.
What does the Consorcio Toisán offer? The Consorcio offers the opportunity to live with a family close to one of our projects.
- Lodgings
- Three meals daily (breakfast, lunch and dinner).
- With advanced notice, the Consorcio will also facilitate transport and communication to and from your placement.
