CONSORCIO TOISAN TOURISM OPPORTUNITIES

The different organizations and associations working within Intag, especially those that are affiliated with the Consorcio Toisan, offer a number of different alternative tourism opportunities, depending on their local environments and productive experiences.

ECOJUNIN(GARCIA MORENO)

The community of Junín is located in the area of Intag, north west of Ecological County, Cotacachi in Ecuador.  Intag is at the edge of Cotacachi–Cayapas Reserve, and has subtropical forests.  Having the area in the Bioregion of Chocó, “The Green Corridor”, according to E.O. Wilson, it’s one of the ten hot spots in the world.
The community of Junín was threatened by destruction of mining, but the local people did not permit and found some new productive alternatives as ecotourism concerning the environment. The existing attractions in this place are primary cloud forests, biodiversity of flora and fauna, rivers, waterfalls, organic farms, and everything what you see.
